Living Eazy was founded in 2007 by Matt Elflein, his brother Frederick Elflein, his cousin Jeanne Burnside and friend Kimberley Cummings.

The partners wanted to bring Matt’s line of portable accessories to help all wheelchair/walker users gain independence and a better quality of life.


Matthew M. Elflein, Inventor, Co-Founder, Executive Vice President – Product Development, has been permanently confined to a wheelchair since his accident in June 2004. His entrepreneurial spirit and creativity in developing products for his own wheelchair will become a huge asset for the company. Prior to his accident, he worked for the US Postal Service for 9 years as a letter carrier. Matt also is the Executive Director of the Friends of Matt Foundation, a non-profit organization formed to help others who find themselves confined to a wheelchair after an accident. He is often asked to speak to wheelchair bound patients at different hospitals around the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida area.

Frederick R. Elflein, Jr., Co-Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer, has over 20 years of management experience, sales leadership, operations leadership, human resource leadership, and has significant experience in building businesses. Fred has been in the financial services industry since his first position at Household Finance Corporation. After 11 years there, he was recruited to another firm to build a branch franchise. He spent 7 years in a senior executive role and member of the Board of Directors of Saxon Capital, Inc. In mid-2004, Fred was again recruited to a competitor to build their retail branch franchise until the company was sold to a large Wall Street Firm in mid-2007. Fred has experience in fundraising for the Richmond YMCA acting as Co-Chair for the 2003 Capital Campaign and more recently, he is currently Chair of the 2008 Annual Giving Campaign. Fred earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. His business acumen is well regarded and will bring organizational structure and leadership to the company.

Jeanne M. Burnside, Co-Founder, Executive Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, has over 27 years of sales and marketing management experience in the television media arena. Jeanne has been in the multi-media sales and marketing industry since her first position at DDB Needham Worldwide where she was responsible for scheduling and negotiating all network broadcast, cable, syndicated television and radio packages for clients on a national scope. After 3 years, Jeanne took a senior management role at Financial News Network where she was responsible for national advertising sales for FNN and The Learning Channel in the eastern region. From there, Jeanne accepted the role of Director, Corporate Marketing at WNET/Channel 13, New York, where she created the sponsorship model to market Public Television as an alternative media opportunity to corporate clients and consumer products/services. Jeanne has experience in fundraising and philanthropic activities for the Orono Town Hall, Orono Summer Concert Series, and the Great Canadian Town Band Festival. Jeanne also wrote a monthly column which was published in the Orono Weekly Times from 1998 to 2006. Her sales and marketing experience and abilities are well regarded in the media industry and will bring those skills and contacts to the organization.

Kimberley Cummings, Co-founder & Outside Director, has been a long time friend of Matt and her understanding and compassion have been a huge inluence in helping Matt cope and overcome his accident. Her creativity and unlimited support of Matt have played a vital role in the development of the product. Kim assists Matt in the daily operations of distribution of the product and also helps Matt develop new products. Kim is currently employed at the U.S.P.S. and is a great asset to our company and to Matt.
